Child Care

Free childcare is provided for CESL students' children, who are at least 2 years old.  TESL students at the University of Mississippi volunteer to care for the children while their parents are in class. While childcare is provided on Monday nights during class, it is not provided on Wednesday nights during Conversation Corners.

Activities for children will include:
  • Coloring
  • Playing games
  • Listening to a story
Note: Children will NOT be having an ESL lesson.

Volunteers will NOT be responsible for:
  • Diaper changes
  • Taking the child to the restroom
  • Discipline
  • Providing snacks
Parents are responsible for diaper changes, restroom visits, and discipline. Volunteers will come get the parent(s) to let them know that their child needs help.  Childcare does not include the care of babies/infants.

Parents may bring children to the room as early as 6:15 PM and should pick up their children immediately following the end of class.  Parents must NOT leave the building for any reason for any length of time without first picking up their child.

If your child has any special needs or considerations, please email us at cesl.olemiss@gmail.com to discuss your child’s circumstances BEFORE coming to class.

  1. A child's development depends to a large extent on their experiences at a very young age. If you are a working mom or dad you will no doubt have realized that it is often hard to take good care of your children during your working hours.
